A Message to Our Oregon District Community

Facts regarding last night’s incident, safety updates, and today's neighborhood operations.

Dear Neighbors, Business Owners, and Patrons,

As many of you are aware, an incident occurred in the Oregon District late last night involving a shooting. We know there is a lot of information—and misinformation—circulating on social media right now.

We want to clarify the facts as provided by authorities: four people were injured, and thankfully, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No fatalities have occurred.

The Context of the Incident

The safety of everyone who visits, works, and lives in the Oregon District remains our absolute highest priority. To provide clarity on last night’s events:

  • Timing: The incident took place well after hours, long after the District’s businesses and bars had closed for the night.

  • Security: It occurred after our standard weekend security details and police presence had wrapped up their deployment for the evening.

While this is a deeply upsetting event, it does not reflect the daily reality of our vibrant, tight-knit community. The Oregon District remains a safe, welcoming place, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure it stays that way.

District Operations Today: Streets Reopened

To keep our community moving and support our local businesses, we have made the decision to open the street in the District to normal traffic flow today. Our shops, restaurants, and venues are open and ready to welcome you.

The best way we can support our District right now is by standing together and continuing to show up for the small businesses that make this neighborhood the heart of our city. We are incredibly grateful for the swift response of our first responders last night, and for your continued support and vigilance.

Sincerely,

Asha Parson

President, Oregon District Business Association
